In general, for the sake of efficiency, the average vehicle body made of carbon fiber in the form of fiber or acrylic. The vehicle speed are set to be drive at a speed of 25-40 km per hour. Vehicle wheel mounted on the outside to make the car more stable when its cornering.
The specification of 10 fuel-efficient vehicles from Indonesian students, in general, are as follows:
1. Vehicles from the UI
UI student team send two vehicles. Their name are Garuda Kesavha Evolution and Kalabia (taken from the Papuan language which means the Sharks). With a length of the vehicle not more than 275 cm and width 80 cm, and weight 50 kg only, Garuda Evolution Kesavha set a target of 1000 km per liter. While Kalabia with machine of Shogun 125 cc set a target of 500 km per liter.
2. Vehicles from Gajah Mada University
GMU student teams send two cars. Their name are Semar Prototype and Semar Urban. With aluminum chassis and fiberglass body, the weight of each are 50 and 100 kg without driver, the vehicle engine 4 stroke with 1 cylinder between 100-110 cc mileage targets 280 km per liter to 300 km per liter.
3. Vehicles from ITB
ITB team also send two vehicles for this race. The first one is named Cikal Nusantara. With aluminum chassis and carbon fiber body, the vehicle with 150 kg weight is set a target of 100 km per liter. The second vehicle named Rakata. With a more streamlined shape and weighs only 60 kg, this car set a target of 600 km per liter.
4. Vehicles from ITS
Team ITS passed three vehicles for this race, they are SAPUANGIN 3, 4, and 5. If other vehicles using the ready-made machine, like the machine of SAPUANGIN 3 that using Honda Revo machine, then for SAPUANGIN 5, ITS student team developed a 90 cc engine Paijo, their own hand made machine, which in SEM in 2010 succeed to get 234 km per liter of gasoline. While SAPUANGIN 4 is the only vehicle diesel from Indonesian which join in SEM Asia this year. SAPUANGIN target 300 km per liter, and SAPUANGIN 4 even set a target 1500 km per liter. Good luck!
5. Vehicles from Politeknik Negeri Pontianak (Polnep)
With a length, height and width of each 312 cm, 70 cm and 108 cm and weighs just 42.4 kg, this car set a target distance of 1,500 km per liter.
All of these vehicles will race on 6-9 July 2011. Hopefully, the Indonesian team could be the legend of fuel efficient race event at Sepang this year.
